After Uni, I moved to San Francisco for a very interesting but
unsuccessful attempt at college. (Who could concentrate on school
with the Flower Children every where?).
From there into four years in the Marines (followed by six more
years in the reserves). Got married and had our first child. Back
to school at CSU - Fullerton. Got my degree in Accounting and moved
to Anchorage, Alaska.
Two more kids, a divorce, remarried, one more child and twenty years
later, I moved to Kauai, Hawaii. Twelve years and a bunch of
different pursuits and I find myself in central Florida with my
wonderful wife and 13 year old son (kids keep you young, no?).
Who could ever guess how it will all turn out?
Here is a photo taken a couple of years ago (2004). It is me and my wife Marilyn on the deck of the USS Missouri. We were there for a dinner celebrating the end of my year as president of the Rotary Club of Kapa'a. Pure Hawaiian magic - soft breezes, blue sky and topaz water. I didn't realize how much it had become part of my life until we moved to Florida to be closer to the kids. I have walked on glaciers and beside flowing lava. Flown through the Alaska wilderness and fished for salmon under the midnight sun. I've been to the Arctic Ocean and been towed be sea turtles. Wherever else I go, Hawaii will always be home to me. After the kids are all grown up, I think we'll go back to Kauai — back to the ohana of the Garden Isle.
